The Knoxville and Pella Softball Squads split a double header last night. The Panthers took game one 7-4 and they brought their bats, slapping 14 hits off of Pella Pitcher Elyse Sadler. Knoxville would get contributions from both Taylor Carter and Cheyenne Jones. Carter ripped two R-B-I triples, and Jones pounded out two doubles to help the Panthers build a lead in the middle innings. Pella also got good contributions at the plate in the form of Sarah Tallman going 3/4 and Andrea Fuller who went 2/3 with an R-B-I. The nightcap could not have gone more opposite for both sides. Sadler who was tagged with 14 hits in game one, settled in and pitched a two hit shutout to help the Lady Dutch to a 6-0 win. Both of Knoxville’s hits came from Carter who went a combined 4/7 on the night and two R-B-I. Coach Steph Christner said the first game her girls were hitting the ball down and hard. Fuller got the scoring started for Pella in the third with a solo home run that was followed by a single from McKenna Rozenberg, then two errors by Knoxville brought in three runs to make it 4-0. Pella would tack on two more runs in the fifth. Pella Coach Krista DeMeulenaere was proud of her team coming back from the game one loss. Emily Wallace took the loss in game two after earning the win in game one. Knoxville will play Newton today in a varsity double header starting this morning at 11…while Pella will take the weekend off and come back to host Norwalk on Monday.
