The Knoxville Softball Squad played one of best defensive games of the season, but the bats never got going in a 2-1 loss to Oskaloosa last night. The Panthers took the lead in the fifth when Jory Wallace scored on a fielder’s choice. Oskaloosa would come back to plate a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie it at one. The Indians would win the game in walk-off fashion with a base hit in the bottom of the seventh to score the winning run. Knoxville Coach Steph Christner said the defense was outstanding, but the bats just did not come through. Emily Wallace took the hard luck loss going the distance giving up two runs, while scattering seven hits, walking three and striking out one. Knoxville slips to 6-10 on the season and 3-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Panthers host Newton on Monday.
