The seven-time defending Class 2A state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier proved to be too much for the Pella girls’ soccer team to handle on Friday, as the Lady Dutch fell in the state semifinals by a final score of 4 – 0. Xavier scored three goals in the first half, including a late tally with less than a minute remaining. Kayla Armstrong had a hat trick for the Saints, who will play for their eighth consecutive title later today. The Pella girls have nothing to be ashamed of, going 18 – 2 this season and were one of the top four teams in the state of Iowa in Class 2A.
