More people continue to plant vegetables in their gardens than in the past. That’s according to Knoxville Hy-Vee Garden Manager Nila Landsperger. Landsperger says that a wide variety of vegetables are being purchased, with tomatoes and peppers being the most popular. She notes that if you’re planning on getting a crop in, time is running out. Anything that’s not planted soon risks falling to an early frost. Landsperger adds that it’s also a good time to mulch. Mulch will help your plants retain water, reduce weed growth, and improve the soil quality.
