Leading up to a big confrontation tonight with Twin Cedars, the Melcher-Dallas baseball and softball teams split in their games last night with Lamoni on the road. Saints’ baseball fell 9 – 5, and Coach Jon Suntken tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that it was a rough first inning that did his team in. Chase Wetterling was 3-for-4 with a double, and Trent Flehser went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s. The Saints’ girls held on to win 2 – 1 in a close affair. The win is the fourth consecutive for Melcher-Dallas softball, who improve to 9 – 5 overall, and baseball drops to 1 – 6. Each team heads to Twin Cedars for a rivalry match-up later tonight. For the Saints and Twin Cedars’ softball teams, this will be the second meet-up of the year; Melcher-Dallas won the first game 6 – 5 in late May. The Sabers are coming off a loss last night to Davis County, 11 – 6. Baseball starts at 6:00 p.m. and the softball contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
