A blowout and a squeaker went Norwalk’s way last night in a pair of contests against Pella Christian. The Eagles’ baseball team fell 6 – 5 in a close game that saw them climb back late just to fall short in the seventh. Pella Christian scored four in that final frame, and were trying to get the winning run into scoring position but was thrown out. Spencer Fynaardt and Andrew VanderHart had a pair of hits and an RBI to highlight the Eagles’ offense. Caleb Morgan was on the mound and gave up just one hit in four-and-a-third and allowing only three earned runs. Dillon Branderhorst pitched the rest of the game, giving up a run on two hits. Norwalk’s softball team continued their dominance this season, winning 10 – 0 over the Eagles. Tessa Howerzyl was 2-for-2 with a single and a double, and Nicole Kelderman picked up a hit in the contest. Eagles’ baseball drops to 5 – 8, softball now sits at 5 – 8 – 1, and they each make the short drive to Knoxville for a doubleheader tomorrow night.
