In what has become a common theme for the Pella High baseball team, a theme that Coach Jesse Jablonski would love to get on the positive side of, the Little Dutch dropped another one-run contest Thursday night, this time to Gilbert, 2 – 1. Tanner Wood was spectacular on the mound, allowing two unearned runs and striking out a season-high 14. Pella had the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with one out in the seventh, but the next two batters struck out to end the ballgame. Jablonski says that he’s been very happy with his guys defensively to this point. The 0 – 6 Little Dutch may have a tough time getting the offense going tonight, as they will be facing Grinnell to begin Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight. You can hear all of the action on the diamond with Cory Houser on the call on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com. Pregame is slated to start at 7:15 p.m.
