Pella Christian had good things come from a pair of different tournaments they were involved in on both the softball and baseball diamonds on Saturday. Eagles’ baseball hosted a tournament involving Eddyville-Blakesburg, Bondurant-Farrar and Pleasantville. Pella Christian opened with a game against the Trojans, and beat them for the second time this season, 10 – 5. Caleb Morgan had three hits including a home run and tallied five RBI’s. Spencer Fynaardt also had two base knocks and Coltin Collins added an RBI single. The second game of their tourney was cancelled due to lightning and ominous weather. For Eagles’ softball, they went 1 – 1 on the day, losing to Clarke 7 – 3, but finishing the day beating Centerville, 8 – 2. Lauren Jungling knocked a ball out of the park against Clarke, and Taylor Hartson was 1-for-3 with a double in the same game. Brooke Mitrisin was 4-for-7 from the plate in both games combined, with three singles and a double. Jenna Roose and Jaynee VandeWeerdhof also had a multiple hit day for the Eagles’ softball team, who now sit with a 6 – 9 – 1 record. Pella Christian baseball is now 6 – 8. Each squad will host Grinnell to get back to conference play later today.
