This round of the Twin Cedars, Melcher-Dallas rivalry goes to the Sabers. Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas played a scoreless softball game for six-and-a-half innings, until the Sabers walked off in the seventh with a 1 – 0 win. Payton Fee scored from first on a sacrifice bunt by Bailey Dunkin and a subsequent throwing error by the Saints. Mackenzie Sedlock earned a complete game shutout, allowing only five hits, walking one, and striking out two. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that it was the best defensive game they’ve played all year. On the baseball diamond, Twin Cedars won in five innings, 11 – 1. The Sabers scored six runs in the fourth inning with two outs. The Saints amassed a total of four hits, but also committed four errors in the game. Twin Cedars’ softball improves to 9 – 6 with the win, while the loss drops the Saints’ record to 9 – 6. Sabers’ baseball is 14 – 1 and the Saints are now 1 – 7. Melcher-Dallas’ softball is off today, while the baseball team hosts Lamoni. Twin Cedars’ ball clubs will welcome Murray for a pair of games this evening.
