An 18 – 2 record and a semifinal finish in the Class 2A girls’ state soccer tournament garnered six Pella High senior girls to earn a spot on the All-State soccer team. Making the first team all-state were Bri Schroder, Gabi Meirick and Heather Van Wyk. Three other seniors made the second team, including Allie DeMeulenaere, Jillian Sagers and Zoe Vermeer. Cedar Rapids Xavier unfortunately ended the Lady Dutch’s run through the state tournament in the semifinal with a 4 – 0 win last Friday, and eventually went on to win the tournament over Sioux City East, 5 – 0. Pella loses nine seniors in total off of this year’s team heading into 2014.
