An event this weekend at Lake Red Rock draws people from across the Midwest. The Lake Red Rock Balloonfest runs from Friday evening through Sunday morning. Event coordinator Matt Kissinger says they’ve received calls from people in Nebraska and Missouri about where to stay as they take in the sights. He adds they’ve made it easy this year, with all the activities taking place at the North Overlook Beach. The event starts with a launch at 6:30 Friday evening. It starts up again early Saturday with a launch at 6:30, a 5k and 10k run, and a pancake breakfast. Other recreational activities will take place throughout the day as well. The Lil’ Big Red Radio will be there Friday and Saturday playing music and making announcements.

Last night, balloons flew over Knoxville and Pella. The photo above was taken from the balloon that flew over Knoxville.
