Commuters Need Awareness, Patience for RAGBRAI

Patience will be key for motorists during RAGBRAI’s time in Marion County next week. Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says they aren’t closing rural roads, but will have law enforcement helping control traffic at several stops. He suggests motorists avoid Highway 14 north of Knoxville on Wednesday next week as well as take caution on T15, T17, and G71 next Thursday.
He also says to be cautious of the large support vehicles that will be using different routes to get around. On Wednesday, support vehicles will drive from Des Moines to Monroe and Pella via Highway 163 before using T17 and Highway 92 to enter Knoxville on the west side. They’ll leave Knoxville on Thursday up Highway 14, turning right on G28 and driving through Pella before using Highway 163 to go to Oskaloosa.
Route maps come from RAGBRAI.com . The route on the top is the one taken Thursday, from Knoxville to Pella. The one just above this paragraph is for Wednesday, from Des Moines to Knoxville. You can see the support vehicle routes below:
