Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky has received several complaints about motorists failing to stop when the light is red light at the intersection of Washington and Broadway. Although traffic does not cross Washington from Broadway, there are several reasons why drivers must wait for a green light to proceed through the intersection. Pedestrians are trying to cross, and need gaps in traffic to safely do so, construction materials are stored south of Washington, therefore the contractor also needs gaps in traffic to cross, and construction workers are often inches away from the roadway, and without stop and go traffic, there jobs become even more dangerous. Chief Bokinsky reminds motorists that running a red light in a construction zone is double the fine.
