Eagles’ Softball Tries to Extend Season Tonight

In a rematch from early June, Pella Christian and North Mahaska’s softball teams will both be trying to extend their seasons by one game tonight when they go head-to-head in the first round of the Class 2A regional softball tournament. The Eagles won in that contest last month, 6 – 5, with the go-ahead run being plated in the sixth inning. Pella Christian’s girls amassed just seven hits, but they also came up with good at-bats, drawing seven walks to go along with them. Coach Nate Van Wyk said that the Warhawks will capitalize on every mistake, so his team needs to keep them to a minimum tonight. You can hear the opening round match tonight on 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at kniakrls.com with Cory Houser on the call. Pregame coverage starts at 6:45 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for seven.
