Pella Christian earned a couple one run wins to sweep Knoxville in baseball last night. The Eagles won a hard fought back-and-forth game one 7-6 in nine innings when Coltin Collins smacked in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Andrew VanderHart threw six innings to get the win while Kaden Loscher took the loss for Knoxville. In the nightcap, the Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-RBI double from Grant Fynaardt. Knoxville evened the score in the fourth taking advantage of an Eagle error and wild pitches, plus an RBI single by Bryce Zoutte. After the Panthers grabbed a one run lead in the fifth, Pella Christian plated two runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single from Jason Holwerda and an RBI triple by Clay Stravers and held on for the win. Coltin Collins got the win for Pella Christian in relief of Josh Van Gorp with Caleb Morgan securing the save as the Eagles improved to 12-14 overall and 7-9 in conference play. The Panthers fell to 10-10 overall and 8-7 in league play. Pella Christian travels to Grinnell tomorrow while Knoxville is at Dallas Center Grimes tonight.
