Tonight, PCM and East Marshall do battle with a trip to the Class 3A State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge on the line. PCM enters at 21 – 14, and got to this point by defeating Nevada in round one, 11 – 1, then tackling North Polk 9 – 4 in the semifinals. East Marshall, who won their region last year to get to the state tournament and finished fifth, enters the regional final with a 27 – 5 mark, and feature a very potent offense. They’re batting .382 on the season, beat Gilbert in their opening playoff game, 11 – 3, then beat South Tama in a 15 – 10 decision. Mustangs’ coach, Mallory Grove says that her girls will enter prepared to play, and right now, have been coming into each game with a ton of confidence, which she believes has helped them get to this point in the season. This evening’s regional final takes place at State Center and the first pitch for the “Sweet 16” match-up is scheduled for seven.
