The 2013 baseball season didn’t start the way the fans, players and coaches would have liked for Pella High. They lost their first seven games by a combined nine runs; their pitching staff was great, but the offense just couldn’t score enough runs to get them over the top. After the Little Dutch got over that hump, the team started to come into their own and appeared to grow stronger with each passing game. Starting with their doubleheader against Oskaloosa in late June, Pella did not lose two games in a row until the final two contests of the season. The Little Dutch put together three separate three-game winning streaks and had some quality wins over tough opponents. Pella finished with a 15 – 19 record.
