The Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department has spent months preparing for the thousands of guests in town today. Deputy Fire Chief Greg Higginbotham says that they have three ambulances staffed – one at the station, one at the north end of town, and one by the main campground. The department also has a bike patrol and has borrowed four-wheelers from Bussey and Grinnell to make navigating the crowds easier. Higginbotham adds they’re assisting with a boat patrol at the south end of the mile-long bridge. The weather Wednesday is expected to top out at 80 degrees with mainly clear skies.
