From the files of You Never Know…the Knoxville Baseball Squad was down to its final three outs in the fifth inning of last night’s game against Dallas Center-Grimes down 11-0 and facing elimination early. The two teams had to come back last night after the game was suspended in the top of the fifth due to rain and D-C-G leading 10-0. The Mustangs tacked on another run in the fifth to make it 11-0, and that is when Knoxville put up five runs to extend the game and force the Mustangs to play all seven. While Knoxville ultimately lost 11-6, the fifth inning was the highlight as the Panthers plated five runs highlighted by a three-run home run by Jake Kendall. Coach Joel Johnson said he was glad to see his team have some pride coming back from the nightmare on Monday. Knoxville finishes up at 16-16 on the season and will return the entire team for next season as there was no seniors on this season’s squad.
