A Marion County man received 120 days in jail last week after he was found guilty of Public Intoxication 3rd or subsequent offense. County Attorney Ed Bull explains that Joshua Goemaat declined an opportunity to participate in intensive treatment court seven months ago. That would have placed him on probation and helped him treat his addiction. Bull says that such an opportunity could have could have been helpful for Goemaat. Goemaat had asked for probation after this offense, but Bull says the State did not see that as an option, as Goemaat had failed in his previous attempts under Court supervision. Bull hopes Goemaat can use his time in jail to transition himself into a productive member of the community.
