Monroe and their theme of the “Last Brake Before the Lake” hosted RAGBRAI as a pass thru town Wednesday, as thousands of cyclists made their way from Des Moines to Knoxville. The West side of the square on Commerce Street was blocked off for the beverage garden, and also featured music from The Soul Searchers, Pie in the Sky, and an acoustic set from Andy Fleming of Brother Trucker. Along the South side of the square the Monroe Fire Department hosted water fights, while riders also had an opportunity to ride a mechanical bull.
