Many people seek relief, and understanding when they find themselves in the Quiet Room inside Pella’s Comfort House, and thanks to local artist Sharon Van Wyngarden, some might have an easier time finding solace. In an attempt to honor the late mother of her friend Connie Milligan, Sharon painted a picture of the family farm where Connie grew up. Sharon says she was really inspired by Iowa as she did research by checking out the countryside. She adds that it was then that she realized it’s not all corn fields, and she found it to be very beautiful. Sharon found some oil paints that were 20 years old from her previous painting projects, allowing her to once again connect the past with the present.
