A US Congressional candidate visited Marion County last week, just before he officially announced his candidacy. Mark Lofgren, of Muscatine, is a Republican member of the Iowa House of Representatives. Lofgren owns a local investment firm in Muscatine and previously owned a real estate business as well. He explains to KNIA/KRLS that he wants to take some of the fiscal principles they used in the Iowa House and bring them to Washington. That includes not spending more than the government takes in and not intentionally under-funding programs to balance a budget. Lofgren spoke at Marion County Republicans last Tuesday. He says he also got a chance to meet many business owners in the community while in town.
