One way to build confidence heading into the playoffs is to shutout a 20-win team in four innings and win 15 – 0. That’s exactly what PCM did last night against Montezuma to close out their regular season against. The Mustangs picked up a run in the first, three in the second, five in the third, and the cherry on top being a six-run fourth to end the game nine outs early. Ethan Kain was 3-for-3 at the plate with seven RBI’s, and Alex DeWitte was equally as sharp on the mound, allowing just one hit and walking nobody in his four innings of work, while striking out seven. PCM finishes the 2013 regular season with a mark of 19 – 14, and they can catch their collective breaths over the next several days, as the Mustangs earned a first round bye in their Class 2A district, and will play either Davis County or Albia this Tuesday in the district semifinals.
