Winterset awaits tonight’s winner of the Class 4A first round softball regional match-up between rivals Pella and Knoxville. The Lady Dutch won the season series, 2 – 1, but all of that does not matter now with the start of a new season. Pella head coach, Krista DeMeulenaere says that Knoxville has been playing great softball of late; in fact, they’ve won five straight and six of their last seven. DeMeulenaere adds that the Panthers are playing with a lot of confidence, but her girls will be showing up at the field with that same mentality. Panthers’ coach, Steph Christner says the improved batting has been a key to the team’s success in the last part of the season. Tonight’s contest will be aired live on AM 1320 KNIA, FM 92.1 KRLS and streamed live at KNIAKRLS.com. Derek Cardwell and Cory Houser will hit the airwaves at 6:45 p.m. with their respective pregame shows and first pitch is scheduled for seven.
