Shortly after 8:30 am this morning, the Pella Police, EMS, and Fire Departments responded to a suspected gas leak on the second floor of 604 Liberty Street, located on the Molengracht Plaza in Pella. After running tests and taking surveillance of the situation, the Pella Fire Department was able to locate the source of the smell. Methane was coming out of some piping due to the lack of moisture needed to push it through the system, creating what was described as a natural gas smell. The Methane levels were minimal, and according to Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom, no one was ever in any danger.
