Fielding a question about his pitching staff just about every day, Pella Christian softball coach, Nate Van Wyk, had a simple answer he gave people who would ask him why he went to three different pitchers in a ballgame. The Eagles’ pitching staff in 2013 combined for a 3.93 ERA with nearly 200 innings pitched. Their starters struck out 126 batters and walked 121. Senior Shannon Fynaardt had a strong second half of the season, and was able to lower her ERA to a team best 3.36. Taylor Hartson and Nicole Kelderman, a sophomore and freshman, respectively, will more than likely return as pitchers next season for Van Wyk.
