Two educational events are taking place at Lake Red Rock today. First, Iowa DNR Biologist Jennifer Kurth takes you on a closer look at Freshwater Mussels. These wonders of the water roam many Iowa rivers and streams, and play an important role in the health of freshwater ecosystems by acting as natural water filters. The event begins at 10 am at the Visitors Center. You’ll also have an opportunity to join seasoned geocacher Jeff Goodson for an in-depth look at how to play the tech-oriented sport. Topics covered will be related to basic use of the Geocaching Swiss Army Knife, planning your geocaching day using Google Earth Tweaker, and working with GPS. This event will take place from 1pm to 3pm and participants will meet at the Visitors Center.
