Six night of racing in Southern Iowa have set up for the greatest four night’s on the sprint car racing calendar. What the Indianapolis 500 represents to Indy Car, and the Daytona 500 represents to NASCAR, so does the Knoxville Nationals mean to the sprint car world. For the 53rd time staring tonight over 100 drivers will vie for the chance to be called Sprint Car National Champion. For six of the last seven years, Donny Schatz has claimed that title. However, quite possibly one of his closest competors over the years at Knoxville has been Shane Stewart. Stewart has finished on the podium of the Nationals twice in the last three years. He says the key is to time trial a little better. Drivers scheduled to qualify tonight are…reigning champion Donny Schatz, also last year’s Rookie of the Nationals Kyle Larson, Pennsylvania drivers Ed Lynch Jr, and Greg Hodnett, plus Knoxville Weekly Drivers Don Droud Jr, and Davey Heskin. You can hear the action starting with Live Track Side on 92.1 KRLS at six and Race Night’s Live on KNIA KRLS and KNIA KRLS dot com starting at 7:30. AM 1320 KNIA will also air a special presentation of Motor Racing Network’s Winged Nation live from the Knoxville Raceway at six all four nights of the Knoxville Nationals.
