A new exhibit at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum honors a sprint car Hall-of-Famer and one of the greatest drivers of all-time. The Salute to Champions Mario Andretti exhibit opened in mid-July at the Museum.

Director Bob Baker tells KNIA/KRLS News that they started the process of searching for the cars last year, while the Jeff Gordon exhibit was still on display. In the end, they were able to collect eight cars that Andretti has driven. Baker says that Andretti actually does not own any of those cars, but along with curator Tom Schmeh, he was a big help in tracking them down and getting them to Knoxville.

Baker says it’s a great exhibit to have leading into the Nationals festivities and he hopes that their fans enjoy it. The exhibit will be on display until December 31st.
