It took four, hard-fought sets, but the Pella Christian volleyball squad prevailed over Marshalltown to open up their season last night. The Eagles won the first two games 25 – 17 and 25 – 21, dropped game three 19 – 25, but held on to win the deciding fourth set, 25 – 23. Eagles’ head coach, Cindy Nikkel told KNIA/KRLS Sports that her girls played really good for their first game, but maybe looked a little tentative at times. Becca Gritters had 11 kills, Logan De Graaf had eight kills, and Lauren Jungling had eight aces to highlight the night for Pella Christian. They start the season 1 – 0, and will next face Johnston on the road this Thursday.
