There will be a new face leading the charge onto the basketball courts for Central’s women’s basketball program this winter. Mike Jacobsma, the former Dutch head coach, took an athletics director position at Alexander Dawson School in Colorado. Stepping up to fill his shoes will be assistant Chelsea Petersen, who is a graduate of Upper Iowa University. Petersen still holds several records at her high school, Midland Community, and maintained a 4.0 GPA during college. Jacobsma, in his two seasons, had a record of 17 – 33, and led the team to their most wins, ten, since the 2003-04 campaign. Jacobsma says he is humbled for the opportunity he had at Central and wishes them the best, and adds that he will always be a fan of the Dutch.
