The defensive backfield is another area for Knoxville where the Panthers are experienced. Tanner Dunkin and Ross Shelford return as cornerbacks. Shelford had two interceptions last season and a fumble recovery, while Dunkin showed his quickness in keeping up with some of the better receivers in the district. Also, Coach Troy Rider says Gerrit Davis has stepped up to play safety. Rider says they will have to manage how much Davis is on defense. He says several players are competing for back up roles for cornerback and safety. Knoxville welcomes P-C-M to open the 2013 season this Friday.
