Six Knoxville First Responders were honored with the American Heart Association Heart Saver Award during the Knoxville City Council’s regular meeting Monday. The group worked together to save a man’s life last month who had gone into cardiac arrest. Knoxville Fire Chief Nick Bonstell thanked the Council, saying their decision to increase staffing at the Department led to the quick response that saved the 75-year-old man’s life.

Honorees are:

Greg Higginbotham, Deputy Chief of EMS, Knoxville Fire and Rescue
Val Kemp, EMT, Knoxville Fire and Rescue
Dalton Roland, Firefighter/EMT, Knoxville Fire and Rescue
Austin Rinehart, Firefighter/EMT, Knoxville Fire and Rescue
Jeremy Rawlings, Firefighter/EMT, Knoxville Fire and Rescue
Aaron Fuller, Lieutenant, Knoxville Police Department
