The Marion County Board of Supervisors and Central Iowa Water Association will wait to approve a 28E agreement for a couple more weeks. The Water Association has plans to put in a sanitary sewer collection system and an 11 million gallon controlled discharge lagoon near Attica and Pershing. County Engineer Roger Schletzbaum recommended to the Board of Supervisors that there be language in the agreement allowing his office involvement in the design process of the facility. He told the board that he was not happy with the job that a different organization did with a similar project in Tracy. He wanted to ensure the County isn’t left with damaged roads and other issues. The agreement is expected to be signed in two weeks at their next meeting. Water Association representatives said that they need to have shovels in the ground next spring in order to ensure grant funding, but that the delay shouldn’t impact that.
