Despite losing in the semifinals of the Class 1A state baseball tournament, Matt Miller and his Twin Cedars’ Sabers are all-in-all happy with how the season went. They went undefeated in the Bluegrass Conference, won in their initial showing at Principal Park early in the season, and realized their goal of making the state tournament. Coach Miller says that they will always have a goal of reaching the state tournament, but never of winning one. The Sabers’ coach says that there are so many variables that come into play on the statewide stage that you can’t control, that they just have to get to the tournament first and see what happens. The Sabers set a school record for wins in a season at 36, and many set or broke their own individual records throughout the year, as well. Twin Cedars lost to the eventual Class 1A state champion, Newman Catholic this past Thursday.
