The Marion County Sheriff’s Office swore in seven new reserve officers on Tuesday evening. Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says that the new officers went through about 80 hours of training to become reserves. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that it’s a lot more advanced than it used to be. The training includes items like policies and procedures, traffic control, criminal law, and even driving.

Sandholdt notes that the new reserves will be on the schedule for the Nationals these next couple weekends, but they’re counted on for other things as well. He says search and rescue is a big part of that; they also help secure crime scenes and with events like fishing days and tractors rides.
