For the first time in a while, says Pella football coach, Jay McKinstrey, their quarterback position is a question mark after the first few practices. Josh DeWaard had that role last season, but left after graduation. McKinstrey says that at the moment, he’ll be shuffling a few kids around under center.
“We’re looking at Trevor Argo, he’s a junior-to-be, who was injured last year and didn’t get to play until the last couple of games at the JV level,” McKinstrey said. “Noah Clayberg is a great athlete, we’re looking at him there. The things we like to do offensively, we’re looking at both of those guys there.”
McKinstrey also said they may move senior Nathan Clayberg into that spot, and there are also several sophomores that have worked hard to perhaps be the play caller for the Little Dutch at some point. Pella opens up the season on August 30 in Week One at home against Marshalltown.
