The 2013 softball season for the Pella Christian Eagles was a discovery year for Coach Nate Van Wyk. He experimented with several different line-ups, had the three-person pitching staff in place, and realized a few things about his team. Though Van Wyk says he would not change much of anything about his approach towards this past season, he is looking forward to using some quickness on the base paths in 2014. Van Wyk hopes that the added and returning speed for next year will also pay dividends on the defensive side of things. The Eagles were sixth in the Little Hawkeye Conference in fielding percentage and in errors committed, and Van Wyk says the quickness out in the outfield should help turn bloop singles into routine outs.
