The end of the 2012-13 season saw the end of women’s college basketball careers of several key seniors for Mike Jacobsma. The outside threat of Alyssa Schwartz is gone; the dominating inside threat of Nicole Strasko who was all over the boards for the Dutch has departed, too. As it always is for college sports, when one group of seniors leaves, up come the juniors ready to take over and step into that spotlight. Jacobsma will have four seniors for 2013-14: Jessy Stika, Courtney Kelderman, Hilary Beaird, and Annie Sarcone. The Dutch head coach says that though it will be a challenge for those four young women to replace last year’s senior class, they need to separate themselves from the past. Jacobsma adds he’s also excited about the recruits he has committed to the team this winter and is anxious to get everyone back on campus so they can begin preparations for this season.
