Mary Vermeer Andringa

The Governor’s Advisory Council on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics has released findings from their first year assessment. The council, co-chaired by Vermeer President and CEO Mary Andringa, found that 94 percent of surveyed Iowans believe that science and technology are making our lives better, however, a steady decline was observed in the interest of Iowa youth in general when it comes to STEM topics and STEM careers. Andringa says that in the global market, STEM is imperative nationally, and she believes Iowa is in a position to lead by example.
