One of the more unique events you’ll find at Lake Red Rock will take place September 21st and 22nd. The 5th Annual Dirty Wooden Shoe Cyclocross race takes riders on a looped course with barriers, and tasks that take you off your bike, all while racing around the lake. This is the first year the event will span two days, with five to seven races per day. All ages and abilities are welcome and the entry fee is $25 in advance, $35 day of, and a $10 racing card must be also be purchased. Local racer Tyler Reynolds of Pella, a recently crowned state champion in the road race and criterium disciplines is expected to participate. Spectators are encouraged to watch from the top of the hill at South Overlook where the entire course can be seen.
