Working with a short field all game long, the Central football team prevailed over Augustana under the lights on Saturday, 38 – 13. The tide of the game seemed to change after a missed “chip-shot” field goal by the Vikings when Central drove down the field 80 yards to score the first points of the game and go on to score 24 more before Augustana finally rid themselves of the goose egg. The Dutch’s defense was again the story, not allowing many big plays and held the Vikings’ passing game to just 124 yards. Aaron Eiseler went 19 – 25 passing for 214 yards and three touchdowns, including a string of 11 straight completions at one point. De’Andre Currie also rushed for 74 yards, which also included a 37 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach. Central improves to 1 – 1 and are idle this week before returning on September 28 to welcome Albion of Michigan into Pella for their final non-conference game.
