Two Dutch soccer players have been named Iowa Conference performers of the week after their play last week. Alayna Bailey of the Lady Dutch and Aleksandar Glavas of the men’s soccer team were the two recognized for their efforts. Bailey had a hat trick in an 8 – 0 thrashing of Maranatha Baptist last week; scoring all three of those goals in an 11 minute span. Her entire line for the week was 12 shots, eight on goal and six points. Glavas’ overtime winner with less than a minute to go in overtime put his Central Dutch over the top against then-undefeated Augustana on Sunday. The goal was Glavas’ sixth in as many games. Coach Mike Kobylinski says it may be the first time in a long time that a Central soccer player from both the Dutch men’s and women’s teams have earned the conference performers of the week honors. The Central women also earned a top ten ranking in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s most recent poll for the first time in program history.
