Congressman Dave Loebsack says that the upcoming vote on Syria is among the most difficult decisions he’s decisions he’s ever had to make. Loebsack spoke at a gathering of Marion County Democrats during their annual picnic on Saturday. He says that he’s not convinced that what’s happening in Syria is a threat to our national security or the president’s proposal is the right response.

Two gubernatorial candidates also spoke. Bob Krause talked about raising incomes at the bottom level in Iowa, noting that that can spark positive change in all facets of society.

State Senator Jack Hatch discussed specific ways that an activist government can create solutions to problems. He specifically criticized the Governor for not expanding Medicaid. Hatch will host a health care forum in Knoxville September 23rd. That kicks off the Marion County Democrats legislative education series.
