On a near perfect night for running a cross-country meet, the Knoxville Panthers made the most out of their opportunity as they cut down on times once again at the Newton Invitational. The Boys finished fifth with 131 points, the meet was won by Grinnell. Leading the way for the Panthers was Brad Shearer in a time of 18:49 good enough for 18th place, also of note was Brendan Finan who ran in a time of 19:08. The rest of the Panthers finished within 28 seconds of Finan. On the girls side, Courtney Hughs led the way with a 27th place finish in a time of 17:03. Coach Mike Moats was especially pleased with Emily Murphy coming in at 21:09 which is almost seven minutes faster than her first race of the season. Knoxville is back at it tomorrow at the P-C-M Invitational.
