For the second time this season, Pella High’s volleyball team swept a Little Hawkeye Conference opponent, this time the victim was Dallas Center – Grimes. The Lady Dutch won the three games by final scores of 25 – 8, 26 – 24 and 25 – 23. Serving was a bit better last night for Pella, with an efficiency of just over 90%. Coach Catie Brand says that her team’s serving effort and overall play was strong. Shannon Ewing led the team with 14 kills and Mallory Lynch had two of Pella’s five aces. Pella improves to 10 – 10 and 2 – 0 in the conference. Though the Little Hawkeye Conference looks strong early on in the season, Brand stressed she’s still having her girls focus on only one match at a time. They are off the rest of the week before returning to action next Tuesday in a conference showdown with Grinnell.
