An accomplished jazz musician and her band will mark the Grand Opening of the Knoxville Performing Arts Center this Sunday night. Doreen’s Jazz New Orleans will headline the first act ever to take the stage inside of Knoxville’s newest facility. Doreen Ketchens is known for the musical stylings she produces on the clarinet, and she plays alongside her tuba-playing husband in the band. Former Knoxville band director, Ross Leeper tells KNIA/KRLS News that he first met Doreen down in New Orleans on a trip with his Simpson students. Leeper was also instrumental in getting Ketchens to perform this Sunday in Knoxville. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for kids and can be picked up at a variety of locations, including the Knoxville High School, Iowa State Savings Bank and The Next Chapter.
