Notching their first Little Hawkeye Conference victory in as many tries on Tuesday, the Pella High volleyball team can attribute their early success to the caliber of opponents they’ve played up to this point in the year. The Lady Dutch have played three of their 15 matches so far against Class 5A schools they’ve seen in tournament action, with another four being Class 4A teams. Coach Catie Brand says that the tougher competition helps bring a team closer together. Brand added that every match they’ve played has continued to build their experience and has improved her team’s cohesiveness. The Lady Dutch will see another pair of Class 5A schools in Des Moines East and Urbandale in tournament action in Altoona this Saturday.
