A brief respite from the heat and dry weather came Wednesday morning when showers fell over Marion County. Around six-hundredths of an inch fell in Knoxville Wednesday morning. That brings the total for the month to a quarter-inch, which is just 20 percent of the normal amount at this point in September. The National Weather Service says there is a 40 percent chance of rain overnight Wednesday and again Saturday night and Sunday.
